And now for something completely different…
It’s true. Almost everything I’ve posted on this blog in the year or so it’s been up has been related to writing. Well, that’s getting a bit stale for me, which anyone who follows this blog will note by the recent lack of posts!
Anyhow, I’m going to keep posting about writing. But I think I’m going to spice things up a bit with the drunken rowdiness and everything else that goes on overseas!
So here’s the first post. It was taken at a place called Puerto Galera, which is on an island less than three hours from Manila (two in the car, and one in a sketchy boat across the South China Sea).
There were about fifteen lads down there for a friend’s going away shi-bang. The house is amazing. It’s about five times bigger than what you can see above. A French guy who cooks for the American Army (not to mention royals etc), has been building the place for the past twenty years. The detail in everything is amazing, not to mention the views. The shot of a few of us in the supermarket was, well, in a supermarket. We only went there to get potato chips. We bought most of our food from a wet market, where everything is raw, smelly, very local, and you gotta haggle a fair bit. But we had two amazing cooks who prepared all the meals!
All in all, it was a rocking time. We arrived Friday morning and didn’t really slow down much until Sunday morning, when we were all well and ready to get home and some sleep!
